UofL’s fourth annual raiseRED dance marathon is Feb. 24-25. raiseRED raises money and funding for children, families and doctors fighting pediatric cancer and blood disease at UofL. Last year, more than 1,000 students raised more than $333,000. This year’s goal is $450,000.

Sandra Neel, executive director of the Financial Aid office, was presented with the SASFAA Distinguished Service Award this week at the Southern Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators training conference. This is the highest honor bestowed by SASFAA. Individuals honored with a SASFAA Distinguished Service Award have made outstanding, significant and meritorious contributions to the advancement of student financial aid or the profession.

Power outage schedule for Belknap Campus – Sunday, February 19
Facilities Management is working to repair and replace underground cables and equipment damaged as a consequence of the Belknap campus blackout. Unfortunately, the process of returning campus to normal power operations will require three separate electrical shutdowns during the next two to three months. The first electrical shutdown is scheduled for this coming Sunday, February 19, and will affect the Chemistry Building and Lutz Hall starting at 6 a.m. and ending by noon. The temporary generators will be disconnected and these two buildings will be reconnected to new high voltage cables. Physical Plant will have staff on duty during the shutdown to address any problems experienced. While no impact is anticipated for the rest of campus, all operations on Belknap should exercise caution to protect electrical assets. Unplugging computers and scientific devices where possible is recommended. Announcements regarding the second and third power outages will be issued at later dates.

Commonwealth Credit Union is happy to announce an ATM has been added to their UofL campuses fleet. The new ATM is located in the Student Recreation Center. Additional ATMs are located in the Kornhauser Library on the Health Sciences campus; and in the Student Activities Center, Houchens Building, Duthie Center and the credit union’s Floyd Street branch on the Belknap campus.
