The annual UofL Greek tradition of Fryberger Spring Sing is Saturday, Feb. 22, at 7 p.m. at the Palace. Please join us prior to the event in the Ovation Lounge for a free Fryberger Parent/Greek Alumni reception from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. to mingle with past Fryberger alumni and other parents.

3.) Sustainability Council hosting workshops
To facilitate interdisciplinary research in sustainability and resilience, the Sustainability Council is hosting one-hour workshops on rotating themes. Three UofL researchers will speak for 10 minutes each, followed by discussion about collaboration and overlapping research interests. Spring 2014 schedule: “Water Resources,” 3 p.m. Feb. 19, Law School room 171; “Communities Under Stress and Resilience,” 2:30 p.m. Feb. 28, Urban Studies room 200 (426 W. Bloom); and “Social Justice,” 2:30 p.m. March 18, Urban Studies room 200.

Atul Chugh, MD, assistant professor, Department of Medicine, presents “The Aging Heart: Lessons Learned.” He will discuss how to delineate the changes that occur in the cardiovascular system with advancing age; examine how greater understanding of these changes have governed changes in medical guidelines and practice; and look into the future and anticipate further conceptual and guideline changes. CME category 1 is available for both AAFP and ACCME accreditation.

This Friday, please join us for a Pediatric Grand Rounds featuring John Berkenbosch, MD. Berkenbosch is a professor of pediatric critical care at UofL. He will present “So I survived my PICU admission – now what?” Berkenbosch will discuss the psychosocial effects of PICU admission, the impact of PICU admission on families and behaviors seen in children following ICU “survival” and adaptation.

8.) Obstetrics, Gynecology and Women’s Health
1 p.m. Feb. 14, auditorium, Ambulatory Care Building, Health Sciences Center
Miriam Krause, MD, instructor, Division of Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility, Department of Obstetrics, Gynecology and Women’s Health, UofL School of Medicine, discusses “Pharmaceutical and Non-Pharmaceutical treatment of hot flashes.” She will examine what hot flashes are; describe how they affect women; and discuss estrogen (plus progestin), non-estrogen and non-pharmaceutical therapies.
