UofL’s Kent School of Social Work co-sponsors the symposium, which will run from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. March 12 and 8:30 a.m. to noon March 13 in the Founders Union Building, 312 N. Whittington Parkway.
The workshop is intended to benefit social workers, counselors, emergency service workers, outreach workers, case managers, psychologists and lawyers.
Participants will learn about trauma, its effects and how victims and providers can be helped by trauma-informed care, which emphasizes physical, psychological and emotional safety.

Speakers will be Cheryl Sharp, National Council for Behavioral Health; Shawn Marsh, National Council of Juvenile and Family Court Judges; Sadiqa Reynolds, Louisville Metro Government; and Janice Johnston, Kentucky Department for Behavioral Health, Developmental and Intellectual Disabilities.
