    DID YOU KNOW?

     

    The flood of Aug. 4, 2009, damaged 92 of the university’s 150 buildings, causing about $21 million worth of damage. It was the result of a record 7.2 inches of rain that fell in 78 minutes in the morning and stands as the worst flood in the history of the university. The flood also devastated the main Louisville Free Public Library and the Kentucky Derby Museum. View photos here.

    2.) R25 upgrade to 25Live this month

    Room requests will become even easier with the upgrade to 25Live. R25 will be turned off and the new 25Live system will be available in August prior to the start of the fall semester. Stay tuned for more information and great new features.

    3.) Register today for University Business Training

    Aug. 21

    $1,250

    The last day to register for the fall 2014 cohort of University Business Training is August 21. The UBT curriculum provides individuals working with business processes at UofL with the training they need to be effective in their positions. This certification program focuses on university financial and human resource processes and is a blend of online and in-classroom training. If you are interested in an abbreviated version of this program, you may discuss your training options with John Spence.

    4.) Discounted seats available for Project Management Fundamentals seminar

    Thursdays Aug. 14 to Sept. 4, 6 to 9 p.m., Shelby Campus, Founders Union Building

    A limited number of seats in the Project Management Fundamentals seminar are available to UofL employees at 25 percent off the regular rate. Project management is one of the world’s fastest growing disciplines. Our world-class instructors cover topics including project planning, scope management and control, conflict management and many other skills necessary for project success.

    5.) Applications for 2014-2015 GTA Academy now open

    We are pleased to announce that we are now accepting applications for the 2014-2015 GTA Academy. The application and more information can be found here. The deadline for applications is August 26.

    6.) Faculty/Staff Discount: 2014 UofL Soccer Season Tickets at Lynn Stadium

    $45 General Admission, $60 Preferred ($75 per account donation) and $95 Premium ($100 per account donation)

    2014 UofL Soccer Season Ticket packages will include all 21 men’s and women’s regular season home matches. Lynn Stadium will officially open on Friday, August 29 and feature a doubleheader with our women’s team hosting Ole Miss at 6 p.m. and our men’s team hosting Maryland at 8:30 p.m.
