You are invited to an open forum being held on Belknap Campus, in Bigelow Hall, on Wednesday, August 24, from 9:15 to 10:45 a.m. to meet with one of the candidates, Jeanell Hughes. Hughes has applied for the position of Associate Vice President for Human Resources. She will give a presentation and after you will have an opportunity to ask questions. You will be asked to provide your feedback to the search committee.

The International Student and Scholar Services office is seeking Contact Families for UofL international students. Students will not live in the homes of the participating families but share and learn mutual traditions and culture through activities and gatherings. The contact period is for one academic year but may be extended.

As part of the Cards SPEAK Launch and National Suicide Prevention Week, Dr. Laura Frey will speak about the prevalence of suicidal ideation and behavior among college students, warning signs to look out for, and how to ask/respond if students are at risk. She and Tracie Meyer will also cover resources on campus to go to for help.

10.) Women’s Center celebrates Women’s Equality Day at RSO Fair
August 24, 11 a.m.-1 p.m., SAC West Plaza, near the Red Barn; Free
Join the Women’s Center and its student groups, W4W, AAUW of Louisville and the Student Parent Association at the RSO and Involvement Fair, and celebrate Women’s Equality Day. Pick up free ribbons, buttons and informational material on the right to vote and also learn about each group. The Jefferson County Clerk’s Office will also be at the table and will have information about voting.

We hope we never encounter an active shooter situation on our campus, but we know preparation and planning can help reduce the negative impacts in case such an event occurs. Please join us in the for our Active Shooter Training where we will discuss how you can respond, developing the Survival Mindset, and what you can expect from law enforcement officers. 12.) Conflict Resolution Workshop next week

Conflict on the job is a universal phenomenon and if left unchecked can have a destructive effect on productivity, teamwork and morale. Depending on how conflict is addressed alters the outcome significantly between constructive conflict resolutions to continuing disputes. Dispelling the fear and discomfort people often feel when observing or being part of a conflict, this workshop focuses on ways to turn conflict into productive energy and navigate conflict effectively. will discuss why it is important to keep basic sciences (and its basic scientists) in the medical school curriculum and share examples from the curricular revisions made at Vanderbilt and some of the lessons (positive and negative) that they learned along the way. While Millennials may have been the most-researched generation in history, we’re only now beginning to consider the next crop of incoming college students – Generation Z.
