    1.) College students at risk for suicide: learn what you can do to help

    September 6, 1-2 p.m., Room 139 in the Shumaker Research Building Belknap; Free

    As part of the Cards SPEAK Launch and National Suicide Prevention Week, Dr. Laura Frey will speak about the prevalence of suicidal ideation and behavior among college students, warning signs to look out for, and how to ask/respond if students are at risk. She and Tracie Meyer will also cover resources on campus to go to for help.

    2.) Applications being accepted for Community Engagement grants

    Grant program fosters UofL faculty and staff initiatives within the west Louisville and Jefferson County community. Grant will focus on infrastructure development, research and non-research projects which hold a community participatory action perspective. Up to three mini-grants (between $2,500 and $10,000) will be awarded. All grant applications will require a community partner (west Louisville or Jefferson County community – as appropriate to the project).

    3.) UofL Sport Administration Association selling cornhole boards

    The UofL Sport Administration Association is currently selling sets of cornhole boards (2 boards, 8 bags) for $50.  All of the boards are gently used but in good condition. They are regulation size. Photos are available upon request.

    5.) International Center hours set for HSC Campus

    A building 219, GEO office

    The Office of Study Abroad and International Travel will hold office hours on the Health Science Campus to answer questions on International Travel and sell international travel insurance. They will be: Tuesdays: 9 a.m. to noon; Thursdays: 1-4 p.m. from August 23-December 6, 2016.

    The Office of Study Abroad and International Travel is hosting four Lunch and Learns in the Fall 2016 semester. Representatives from the Controller’s Office will attend to answer any questions on the T&E module in PeopleSoft. Sessions include: Individual Travel, September 2 and October 14; Group Travel (highly recommended for any faculty/staff member leading a group during AY 2016-17), September 16 and October 28.     10.) P-A-U-S-E for a morning of mindfulness

    September 24, 9 a.m. to noon, The Earth & Spirit Center, 1924 Newburg Road; $10 for employees, spouses, and QAs

    Join Paul Salmon, PhD, Certified MBSR and Yoga Instructor, and Paula Kommor, Harvard Mind/Body Medical Institute and KORU Mindfulness Trained Instructor, for a quiet morning to practice body awareness, breath awareness, and mindful movement. Morning of Mindfulness is sponsored by Get Healthy Now and UofL’s Psychological Services Center. These sessions were created as refreshers for those who have already taken part in any mindfulness course and would like to revive their practice.
