    1.) Gray Street: How about orange dreamsicle bread?

    Thursdays through Oct. 29, rain or shine, 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m., 400 block of East Gray Street

    Some items available today will include: Chicken, pork, tomato pies, granola, honey, blueberry lemon and orange dreamsicle breads, peaches, raspberries, watermelon, cantaloupe, corn, tomatoes, squash, hydroponic lettuce, zucchini, beets, cabbage, onions, okra, bitter melon, yard long green beans, yellow wax beans, cucumbers, stuffed pancakes, apples, blackberries, eggplant, sunflowers, zinnias, homemade soaps and lotions, Kentucky kettle corn. Lunch trucks: V-Grits (southern-style vegan cuisine) and Sweet ‘N’ Savory (crepes, smoothies, gelato, frozen coffee). Louisville Water will be at the market this Thursday providing their Pure Tap to go services. Stop by the mobile station, which is located near Jackson Street, and enjoy an unlimited supply of free ice-cold water. Cups will be provided; however, you are encouraged to bring your own reusable or refillable containers.

    5.) Free information security training session

    Aug. 19, 3 to 4:30 p.m., ACB Auditorium

    This session is presented by the university’s Information Security Office and is free and open to all faculty and staff. Topics include: identifying and protecting “sensitive data” and Kentucky’s new privacy law (HB5) and how it impacts you. We will also cover tips to help you protect your work and personal data.     Please join us for a free half-day collaborative seminar to stimulate interest by physicians, dentists, nurses, social workers and all other interested healthcare providers in the evaluation and management of health conditions frequently encountered in individuals with neurodevelopmental disorders, with an emphasis on the adult population.     8.) Lab Safety and Hazardous Waste training scheduled

    Aug. 18, 9 to 11 a.m., Ekstrom Library W104

    Recently hired lab employees who work with chemicals should attend this training. Recurrent training for lab employees is required every three years. Bring employee/student ID number to sign in. Attendees can pre-register at www.louisville.edu/dehs, however advanced registration is not required.

    9.) Research assistance for distance education and online courses

    As the fall semester approaches, know that research from a distance does not have to be a struggle. Students and instructors have access to a range of in-person and online library services. Databases like EBSCO and PubMed are searchable off-campus with your ULink ID. You can schedule research appointments with librarians to learn useful strategies for finding articles and books.     Lori Earnshaw, MD, UofL associate professor, department of medicine; director, palliative medicine fellowship, will present Defining Palliative Care and It’s Place in Healthcare Reform. Dr. Earnshaw will define palliative care and describe the spectrum of palliative care services. She will discuss models of palliative care delivery and their impact in the changing landscape of healthcare. CME category 1 is available for both AAFP & ACCME accreditation.

    This Friday, please join us for the pediatric grand rounds featuring David Adamkin, MD. Adamkin is a professor of pediatrics and the director of the division of neonatal medicine at UofL as well as the Rounsaval Chair of Neonatology and director of neonatal nutrition research. He will be presenting “Neonatal Hypoglycemia: Forty Years After 40 is Not 60.”
