    UofL’s impressive sustainability efforts aren’t the only environmentally friendly activities happening on campus. The J.B. Speed School of Engineering is home to the state-mandated Kentucky Pollution Prevention Center. KPPC engineers help clients lower operating costs by reducing waste and improving efficiency, and its core services are free to state businesses, industries and organizations. It has helped nearly 800 clients since it opened in 1994. For more, click here.

    1.) Welcome Week 2014 is almost here; volunteers still needed

    Aug. 20 to 24

    Help incoming students start their UofL experience off right by attending Welcome Week programs and activities! Events run from Aug. 20 through Aug. 24, and you can choose from a number of fun events that will give you an opportunity to make a personal connection with new students and parents.     With important benefit materials being mailed to your home, it is vital your mailing address is correct. To verify an address, go to ulink.louisville.edu. Sign in, select Faculty/Staff tab, select Home and Mailing Addresses under Personal Information and confirm address is correct. To make an address change, click the Edit button, update address and Save changes. It is that easy. Watch UofL Today for more helpful benefit tips!

    3.) Latest version of Maple now available through iTech Xpress

    iTech Xpress now carries Maple 18, the newest version of the mathematics computation software for faculty and staff. The cost is $10. With more than 5,000 functions, Maple offers the breadth, depth and performance to handle computations and visualization for mathematics, engineering, application development and more.     4.) Feast of the Assumption Mass to be held Friday

    Aug. 15, noon, Interfaith Center

    The Catholic Mass will be led by Fr. Chuck Walker, the university’s new Roman Catholic chaplain.

     

    5.) DEHS lab safety and hazardous waste training

    Aug. 19, 9 to 11 a.m., Ekstrom Library, Room W104

    Recently hired lab employees who work with chemicals should attend. Recurrent training for lab employees is required every three years. Bring employee/student ID number to sign in.
