    6.) COSW calls for Focus Louisville applicants

    The Commission on the Status of Women will sponsor an attendee to the 2016 Focus Louisville program. Women faculty, staff and/or administrators with a strong interest in community involvement and leadership skill development are encouraged to review the May 12-14 meeting program online.     7.) Dept. of Medicine releases new pre-filled NIH R01, R03 & R21 Form D 424s

    For all proposals submitted on/after May 25, 2016, the NIH requires new Form D 424s. The Department of Medicine has created pre-filled 424’s for the R01, R03 & R21 parents and posted them on its website.

    13.) 2016 Grawemeyer Awards Lecture Series set for April 13-14

    Recipients of the 2016 Grawemeyer Award will discuss their winning works at UofL and the Louisville Presbyterian Theological Seminary next week. UofL graduate Charles Grawemeyer created the awards program in 1984 to emphasize the impact a single idea can have on the world. Prizes are presented annually for outstanding works in music composition, ideas improving world order, psychology, education and religion.     15.) Open forum scheduled on university’s budget

    Join Gregory Postel, MD, Interim Executive Vice President for Health Affairs, President Ramsey and Interim Provost Neville Pinto for an open forum related to the university’s budget. We have arranged for an overflow room for a simulcast in room 302 of the B Building. Additionally, we will be providing a live stream of the forum so that you are able to view it from your offices if you are unable to attend. It is hoped that by the time we have our forum the state legislature will have passed a budget and we will have a better understanding of our state funding levels and how it may impact all of us.

    David Doukas, MD, Professor and Director of the Division of Medical Humanism and Ethics at the UofL Department of Family and Geriatric Medicine, will present “The Newly Evolved Face of Advance Care Planning.” His presentation will describe advance directives used in improving the quality of end-of-life care, and delineate the ethical and economic rationale for expanding the use of advance directives.
