    1.) Mammograms available for UofL Employees

    May 4, 8:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m., Gottschalk Circle – Belknap Campus; Insurance will be billed, UofL insurance covers 100 percent

    The James Graham Brown Cancer Center mobile mammography van will be on Belknap Campus on Wednesday, May 4. There are still a few appointment times available. Call the Kentucky Cancer Program today to make your appointment. Additional Information: 852-6318

    2.) Street Closures planned for this weekend

    Because of the Kentucky Derby Festival Marathon and miniMarathon, the following streets will be closed during the following times in and around the Belknap campus on Saturday, April 30, 7 a.m. until 4 p.m.: Broadway from Dixie Highway to 2nd Street; 4th Street from Broadway to Oakdale; Park Avenue from 4th Street to 6th Street; 6th Street from Park Avenue to Magnolia; Magnolia from 4th Street to 6th Street; Central Avenue from Taylor Boulevard to 2nd Street; 3rd Street from Central Avenue to Southern Parkway; 3rd Street from Central Avenue to Main Street.

    4.) Dual Use Research of Concern policy, practices and procedures established

    In accordance with the US Government Policy for Institutional Oversight of Life Sciences Dual Use Research of Concern, effective Sept. 24, 2015, the UofL has established policy, practices and procedures to handle Dual Use Research of Concern (DURC). These policies and procedures have been posted on the DEHS website.

    5.) Wine & Cheese at the Galt House hosted by Golden Key Honour Society

    April 29, 6-9 p.m., The Galt House, Terrace Room, 16th Floor, Suites Tower

    The presence of UofL staff is warmly requested for this event, hosted by Golden Key International Honour Society. It will feature an aerial view of the Ohio river, a classically-trained harpist, a complimentary assortment of imported cheeses, hot and cold hors d’oeuvres, and an unlimited wine and beer selection.     8.) CGSA Derby Lecture Series presents Dr. Heeger, 2000 Nobel Prize winner

    Dr. Alan Heeger, Nobel laureate, will give two lectures. His first lecture is more scientifically technical, titled: “Electronic structure of semiconducting polymer field effect transistors with mobility approaching 100 cm^2/V-s.”

    Medicine Grand Rounds features Jesse Roman, M.D., FACP, FACCP, Professor of Medicine, Pharmacology and Toxicology and Chairman, UofL Department of Medicine. Dr. Roman will present “The History of an Oxy-phile” focusing on summarizing events leading to our current understanding of COPD/acute lung injury, the scientific contributions leading to the use of chronic oxygen therapy, and the contributions of one of the top pulmonologists of the past century and a role model for academic success.
