    4.) Shared services town halls set for Belknap Campus

    Thursday, April 21, 3-4:30 p.m., Middleton Auditorium in Strickler Hall; Friday, April 22, 10-11:30 a.m., Chao Auditorium in Ekstrom Library

    The Office of the Sr. Vice President for Finance and Administration will hold two town hall events to present an overview of the Belknap Campus shared services plan, receive your feedback, and answer questions.

    5.) Fundraiser set for UofL music grad who created Ghana’s first classical music festival

    May 12, 7 p.m., St. Paul UM Church

    Jordan Taylor, a GTA in the UofL School of Music, has created first classical music festival in Ghana to promote artistic development in Ghana’s youth and international collaboration. It is July 24-31 at the University of Ghana. Educators from UofL’s School of Music will partner with musicians from the University of Ghana and the Ghana National Symphony Orchestra to provide a rare opportunity for young students to be immersed in classical music pedagogy for a week of performance and academic training. The fundraiser will include a meal, performances and a Q&A.

    6.) Traditional military memorial ceremony to be held for cadet

    April 21, 11 a.m., Middleton Auditorium, Strickler Hall

    UofL’s Army ROTC program will honor Cadet Tyler Cockerill in a traditional military memorial ceremony. Cockerill died April 14 after a motorcycle accident. He had been a cadet in UofL’s ROTC program.

    8.) Critical thinking scholars featured at i2a Institute

    May 16, 8:45 a.m. – noon, University Club, Belknap Campus

    Free for UofL faculty and staff

    The 2016 i2a Institute will kick off with a featured session titled “Cultivating the Thinking Classroom,” with Dr. Enoch Hale. He will challenge us to think about how we directly engage students in dynamic ways as part of the course lecture. Dr. Brian Barnes will follow with a featured session titled, “Moving from Didactic to Critical Thinking” that will engage us in thinking through how to use the seven “critical thinking” polarities as practical tools to enrich learning activities.

    10.) Earth Day is coming – get ready with today’s Garden Workshop

    With Earth Day coming Friday, now is the time to learn to grow your own free, hyper-local organic food. At 2 p.m. today, come to the Garden Commons at the Cultural Center for a free workshop on Getting Back to the Land with Sustainable Gardening led by UofL’s Sustainability Coordinator, Justin Mog. Staff and faculty are always welcome to use UofL’s gardens as sustainability learning and teaching tools.

    11.) Dept. of Medicine Grand Rounds: Dr. Raj Vijayakrishnan

    April 21, 8 a.m., Ambulatory Care Building auditorium

    Medicine Grand Rounds features Rajakrishnan Vijayakrishnan, MD, Assistant Professor of Medicine in the Division of Cardiovascular Medicine at UofL. Dr. Vijayakrishnan will present “Invasive Hemodynamics: Inpatient versus Outpatient” focusing on the evolution of Pulmonary Artery Catheters (PAC), when, in whom and why PACs, when to use in the hospital, current research data, and outpatient use of invasive hemodynamic monitoring.
