Due to President Obama’s visit to Louisville, UofL’s Cressman Center for Visual Arts at 100 E. Main St. will be closed Thursday. Obama is expected to visit tech company Indatus a few doors down at 118 E. Main St. The last time Obama was in Louisville was in 2008.

Is it time for you annual mammogram? The Kentucky Cancer Program is pleased to bring the mobile mammography van back to Belknap Campus on Monday, April 13th and there are still a few appointment times available! Screenings are for women age 40 years and over. Mammograms provided by James Graham Brown Cancer Center, a part of KentuckyOne Health. UofL insurance will cover 100% of screening. 5.) Neuroscience Day registration and abstract deadline extended
April 6, 5 p.m.
The deadline for submitting an abstract and registering for the 25th Annual Louisville Neuroscience Day has been extended to Monday, April 6, at 5 p.m. The event will be held on Thursday, April 23 and will feature talks on autism, child brain development, neuroimaging, and retinal function in addition to a competitive poster session. You have three chances to celebrate spring today! 1) Ecochella (Red Barn) features an outdoor Sustainability Fair 3-5 p.m. and a 6 p.m. festival with local food, speakers and bands (Louisville Crashers, Deloreans and Appalatin). 2) At 4 p.m., the Latin American and Latino Studies department unveils its new Tranquility Garden and invites you to plant a seed at Stevenson Hall. 3) Also at 4 p.m., in Humanities 300, the Social Change Program presents an Equitable Louisville panel.

Or, do systemic barriers, negative attitudes, and exclusion by some in society contribute to “handicapping” persons with disabilities? Dr. Peter Rasmussen, director of the Cerebrovascular Center at the Cleveland Clinic and medical director of Distance Health, will present Mobile Stroke Unit at this week’s grand rounds. MDs and DOs will receive 1 CME and RNs will receive 1.2 CEU for attending. Continental Breakfast will be served.

This Friday, please join us for a pediatric grand rounds featuring Anna Ehret, MD. Ehret is assistant professor of neurology in the division of child neurology at the University of Louisville School of Medicine. She will be presenting “Pediatric Stroke,” where she will help attendees recognize stroke symptoms in a child, educate them on appropriate stroke management in a pediatric patient and raise awareness of pediatric stroke.

Lindsey Whiteman, MD, UofL Sports Medicine Fellow, presents Happy Feet. Attendees will learn how to diagnose and treat common injuries of the foot. Expand your knowledge of physical exam skills and specific tests. Learn when to order imaging and what we are looking for. CME category 1 is available for both AAFP & ACCME accreditation.
