KENTUCKY STATE DATA CENTER CONFERENCE TO HELP INTERPRET CENSUS INFORMATION

    LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Government officials and others who rely on the socio- economic figures released by the U.S. Census Bureau this summer will learn how to analyze the data at the third annual Census Data Users Group Conference at the Shelby Campus of the University of Louisville Wed., Nov. 6.

    Sponsored by the Kentucky State Data Center, the conference will be in room 218-A in the Founders Union Building from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

    This summer’s release of census information was the most comprehensive compilation of socio-economic statistical information from the 2000 Census to date.

    Session topics include:

    • “Kentucky: How Are We Doing?” with Ronald Crouch, director of the Kentucky State Data Center
    • “Issues in Dealing with Census Data,” with Vernon Smith, urban systems researcher with the Kentucky State Data Center
    • “What Is SF 3 All About?” with Ken Wright, U.S. Bureau of the Census, Charlotte Regional Office
    • “How Other Agencies Use Data,” with Becky Naugle, state director of the Kentucky Small Business Development Centers; Alicia S. Crouch, Kentucky Cabinet for Workforce Development; and Brent Lackey, Kentucky Economic Development Cabinet
