    Did you know that the Oscar-nominated “La La Land” had a Louisville connection? Alumna Jessi Eichberger, 11A, was a member of the costume team outfitting Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone for their starring roles.

    • Designing Woman: Alumna Jessi Eichberger took the costuming talents she honed backstage at UofL to Hollywood backlots, working on movies including “La La Land” and “Allegiant” and television shows including “Scandal” and “Shameless.” And Eichberger is just one of our alumni Cards in the arts.  
    • Gut Feeling: UofL researchers are working to understand the functions of gut microbiota and develop therapies for an array of diseases.
    • The Greatest Two Minutes in Astronomy: Kentucky has a prime seat at the finish line for the Aug. 21 total eclipse. The interest in the eclipse also is drawing more attention to UofL professors’ work to increase science literacy.

Her job lets her share UofL’s good news in all avenues of communications including UofL Magazine, advertising, content marketing and branding. Walsh joined UofL in 2014 after previously serving as the public relations specialist at Indiana University Southeast. Prior to her career in higher education communications she was an award-winning newspaper reporter. Red is one of her favorite colors and it’s a good thing, too, because she earned her bachelor’s degree in journalism from Western Kentucky University and her master’s in communication from UofL.
