The Yearlings Club, a partner of the University of Louisville’s College of Arts and Sciences, is devoted to civic responsibility, community service and leadership development. Each year, the club organizes public events aimed at bringing people in Louisville together with UofL faculty members to share expertise, forge common bonds and explore issues.
Most events run from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. (unless otherwise indicated) at the Yearlings Club, 4309 W. Broadway, and include refreshments and networking opportunities. The series will wind up with a community reception in April.
The spring series includes:
- Sunday, Feb. 13 – A Conversation with Elders, discussion by Georgia Davis Powers, former state senator and civil rights advocate; Elmer Lucille Allen, artist and community activist; and Walter Hutchins, historian and author; with Kristal Goodner of WLOU as moderator.
- Sunday, March 13 – Enhancing Your Economic Viability in the World Economy, discussion by members of the World Affairs Council of Kentucky and Southern Indiana, with attorney and former council board chairman Robert Brown as moderator.
- Tuesday, April 19 – Community reception, 6 p.m.-8 p.m.
