Ramsey was back in his old stomping ground of Bowling Green, Oct. 29 and 30, to be inducted into the Western Kentucky University Hall of Distinguished Alumni.

Ramsey had two stints at WKU. He graduated with a bachelor’s degree in business administration in 1970 and, in 1992, returned to the Hill as vice president for finance and administration and professor of economics.

Ramsey received the special recognition from WKU because of his distinguished career in higher education, economics and public policy.

In accepting the award, he told a luncheon crowd Oct. 29 that there are three things important in his life: family, faith and friends, and that he’s thankful to have friends who believe in him more than he believes in himself.

Ramsey also quoted his friend and mentor, former WKU President Dero Downing, saying Don’t worry about me I’m drinking from the saucer because my cup is overflowed.

On Saturday, Ramsey and other new inductees were recognized at the homecoming football game.
