The victim, a UofL student, reported that at about 11:15 p.m., while she was sitting in her vehicle, a man approached her from behind, pulled her out of the car, pushed her to the pavement and rummaged through her vehicle. He fled the scene to the south when another vehicle turned into the parking lot.
Police are looking for a suspect the victim described as a black male, 5’7 to 6’0 tall and weighing 180 to 200 pounds, wearing light denim shorts and black tennis shoes.
Stansbury Park is not university property. It is next to UofL residences The Complex and Greek Row and across Third Street from Ekstrom Library.
UofL police have made an arrest in a robbery that took place in the park on Aug. 19 and have a warrant for the other suspect in connection with that crime.
We are working with Metro Police to make Stansbury Park safer and to keep criminal activity away from campus, said Lt. Col. Kenny Brown, UofL’s assistant police chief.
We are in a city with pockets of criminal activity, and we urge students to be aware of their actions and surroundings wherever they are, he said.
ULPD offers these tips:

Walk with a group of people, and if walking to a parking lot, do not the leave the area until everyone is safely in his or her vehicle.

Watch for suspicious activity, such as two or more people just hanging around.

Leave the area immediately if you sense something wrong.
Anyone who has information about the Sept. 2 Stansbury Park incident is asked to call ULPD at 852-6111. That also is the number to use to report any suspicious activity and to call the Department of Public Safety for its escort service.
