The Kentucky Cancer Program at UofL is teaming up with the UofL School of Dentistry, University Hospital, the James Graham Brown Cancer Center at UofL, the Kentucky Dermatological Association and Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield to offer free cancer screenings and educational exhibits.

Here’s what to expect:

  • Oral cancer screening. Dental school faculty and students will provide oral cancer screenings Aug. 17, Aug. 18, Aug. 19, Aug. 21, Aug. 22 and Aug. 25. Hours vary. Location: Kentucky Cancer Program booth in the Health Horizons area of South Wing B.
  • Skin cancer screenings. Members of the dermatological association will be offered each day of the fair. Hours vary. Location: Kentucky Cancer Program booth in the Health Horizons area of South Wing B.
  • Incredible Colon. Learn about colorectal cancer through this 20-foot-long, 10-foot-tall, walk-through replica of the human colon. Hours are 9:30 a.m.–6:30 p.m. each day of the fair. Colon Cancer Awareness Day with Madeline Abramson, wife of Kentucky’s Lt. Gov. Jerry Abramson, will be Aug. 21, Senior Day at the fair. Location: Kentucky Cancer Program booth in the Health Horizons area of South Wing B.
  • Horses and Hope booth. Educational materials on breast cancer and mammography and sale of merchandise to support the Horses and Hope program, which educates, improves awareness and offers screenings for members of Kentucky’s horse industry. Hours are 11 a.m.–6:30 p.m., Aug. 16–25. Location: North Wing Equine Exhibit Hall.
