    1.)  Construction update: Brandeis to close between Floyd and Brook

    July 20-24

    Brandeis Avenue between Floyd and Brook streets will be closed beginning July 22 for utility work in the street. Detours around the area will be posted by that date. Warnock Avenue will continue to be one lane westbound from I-65 to Floyd, and closed between Floyd and Brook. See the construction update site for more information.

    2.) Cards Under the Stars: ‘Cinderella’

    July 24, 6:30 p.m., on the lawn between the Natural Sciences Building and Grawemeyer Hall, movie begins at dusk

    Free admission

    Grab a blanket, lawn chairs and a cooler and bring the family for a screening of the 2015 film “Cinderella.” Let the kids enjoy our inflatable park and games, a meet and greet area with Cinderella and other activities. Bring a picnic or purchase concessions from Sweet N Savory and Boss Hog’s BBQ. Also, watch soon for an announcement for a rescheduled screening of “Big Hero 6.”

    3.) We put the ‘Fun’ in Functional Fitness

    Saturdays 9:30 a.m. to 10:15 a.m. — — Get Healthy Now Wellness Center, Humana Gym

    Free for GHN Wellness Center members

    This class focuses on core fitness that can easily translate into daily activities and other sports. It incorporates all of the major muscle groups as well as the muscles you never knew you had. You will get efficient; quality functional movements that will enhance “trouble areas,” nourish your spine, revitalize your postural muscles and strengthen your core with every movement. Exercises are shown at different skill levels so each person can work to their own individual competency.

    4.) Congratulations, Dorothy – Get Healthy Now Wellness Center’s Member of the Month

    Meet Dorothy Hickerson, clinical consultant, Kent School of Social Work. She celebrates her first anniversary with UofL this month. The GHN Wellness Center has helped Dorothy reach many of her goals, one of which is visiting the center at least five days every week. Read more about Dorothy’s goals and her favorite GHN offering! Three cheers for Dorothy – we’ll be cheering you on every step of the way!

    Rally your workout with your favorite workout partner at the Get Healthy Now Wellness Center. Let our professional staff support you as you exercise your best self this summer. Your spouse/QA can join you for $10/month. Members can bring a guest for $5/day or $20/week (age 18+). Better health, more energy, increased strength and muscle tone — make good progress on wellness goals this summer with GHN’s support!

    6.) UofL Event Calendar Training

    The Office of Communications and Marketing launched in 2014 a university-wide event marketing calendar (http://events.louisville.edu) for use by the campus community. Join us for an informal refresher course on using the calendar. We’ll cover adding events to the calendar and answer any specific questions you might have. Register for one of our sessions listed below:
