    Jefferson Seminary, a predecessor to UofL, opened in September 1814. Tuition was $17.50 for a five-month session of classes that included English, French, Latin, Greek, geography and trigonometry (used for surveying and navigation).

    1.) Fifth annual Open Walls exhibit registration is open

    Exhibit June 5-26, Monday-Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Photographic Archives gallery, Ekstrom Library lower level

    Registration due May 28, 5 p.m.

    The 2015 Open Walls exhibit of artwork by UofL faculty and staff is scheduled for June 5 to 26 in the Photographic Archives gallery in the lower level of Ekstrom Library. The exhibit, which is in its fifth year, is an opportunity for faculty and staff who are not professional or exhibited artists to share their work. All media (i.e., paintings, photographs, woodworking, mixed media, fiber arts, jewelry, crafts) is accepted. Click on these links for the guidelines and the registration form.

    2.) 25th Annual Neuroscience Day is today

    April 23, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Clinical & Translational Research Building, first floor

    Free

    The 25th Annual Neuroscience Day features plenary speaker Dr. Pat Levitt, internal speakers Dr. Brendan Depue and Dr. Chi Zhang, and a trainee poster competition. Go to our website for a detailed program. Lunch provided. If you did not pre-register online, please register on site.

    3.) Sign up now for 24th annual UofL faculty/staff golf scramble

    June 12, 1 p.m., Quail Chase Golf Club

    $55/person

    All current and retired UofL faculty/staff and spouses are eligible to participate. Entries limited to the first 120 applicants. Shotgun start will be used. Player check-in will start at 11:30 a.m. and range balls will be available starting at 11:45 a.m., with lunch between 11:30 a.m. and noon. Entry fee includes: greens fee, golf cart, gift certificates for the winning teams and individual skill competitions, skins game and range balls. Make all checks payable to the University of Louisville.

    This Friday, please join us for the 34th Annual Dr. Kareem B. Minhas Memorial Lectureship featuring Craig Sable, MD. Sable is director of echocardiography and telemedicine and professor of pediatrics at Children’s National Health System at George Washington University School of Medicine in Washington, D.C. He will be presenting “Telemedicine Applications in Pediatrics.”

    Robin Youngson, anesthesiologist, co-founder of Hearts in Healthcare, honorary senior lecturer at Auckland University presents Hope for Healthcare. The participant will understand the extent of burnout among health professionals and how this disables compassionate caring; the neuroscience of the deep connection between health professionals and patients; how a healing connection profoundly changes the biology of patients, including genetic regulation.

    Please join us as Michael Coons CST/CFA with Hologic will present Novasure Endometrial Ablation. He will be discussing the three types of Endometrial Ablation and how they work and compare data and efficacy of all three ablation modalities. Also, he will talk about best practices for Novasure as well as troubleshooting.
