UofL to close Baxter for block party

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – For a few hours on Oct. 5, people won̵’t have to look both ways when they cross Baxter Avenue, one of the busiest streets in the city’s Highlands neighborhood.

That’s because the University of Louisville will stop traffic–literally−for a homecoming block party that day from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Baxter between Highland and Christy avenues. The free, public event will feature a pep rally with Cardinal cheerleaders, pep band and athletes. Party-goers who wear red will receive food and drink discounts at participating restaurants.

The block party isn’t the only event UofL is offering during its homecoming celebration this year.
