UofL Theatre holding auditions for ‘Othello’

    LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The University of Louisville Department of Theatre Arts is holding open auditions for its upcoming production of William Shakespeare’s “Othello.”

    Auditions will be held from 8 p.m. to 11 p.m., Oct. 27, and 7 p.m. to 11 p.m., Oct. 28, at Thrust Theatre, 2314 S. Floyd St. Callbacks will be Wednesday and Thursday, Oct. 29 and 30.

    Interested actors should prepare one, 90-second Shakespeare monologue for the initial audition. Sides from “Othello” will be distributed for callbacks. All UofL productions and auditions are open to the public. This production will include roles for all ages and non-traditional casting.

    “Othello” is one of Shakespeare’s classic tragedies and tells the tale of the Moor of Venice, his new bride, his traitorous friend and his fellow officers and kinsmen. The UofL production will be directed by Assistant Professor Daniel R. Hill who is seeking a cast of up to 20 actors. The show runs from Feb. 4-8, 2015.
