LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The University of Louisville today announced that Kevin Noland will join the university’s College of Education and Human Development as Special Assistant to the Dean on Oct. 1.
Noland was formerly Kentucky’s Interim Education Commissioner and an ex-officio member of the Council on Postsecondary Education. He helped draft the Kentucky Education Reform Act of 1990 and has served as deputy commissioner and general counsel with the Kentucky Department of Education.
“Kevin will focus on building a strong and seamless infrastructure for education in Kentucky from K-12 through college,” said Interim Dean Blake Haselton. “He has extensive experience working with the legislative and executive branches of state government as well as with local school districts.”
Haselton said Noland will help lead and support efforts to implement Senate Bill 1, which was passed earlier this year by the Kentucky General Assembly and calls for numerous changes in educational standards, assessment and accountability.
Noland holds a bachelor of arts and a juris doctorate from the University of Kentucky.
