Special Collections celebrates Tarzan’s centennial anniversary

    LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Author Edgar Rice Burroughs created the loincloth-clad character Tarzan in 1912, and 100 years later the jungle dweller is a cultural icon with his signature yodel and sparse attire.

    The University of Louisville’s Special Collections Department has the world’s largest institutional collection of Tarzan materials and is honoring the “ape man” with a birthday party Sunday, Oct. 28, at 3:30 p.m. in Ekstrom Library’s Chao Auditorium.
