As much as these titles describe and apply to the work that happens at the University of Louisville, they don’t get to the essence of what makes UofL unique – its people.

UofL title and department: vice president for university advancement

At UofL since: This is my 4th time at UofL! Started in 1973 as a student, been in current position about 5 years.

In current post since: Nov. 1, 2006

Hometown: Born in Louisville, grew up in Elizabethtown, Ky.

First job and what I learned from it: Hardware store in E-Town. I learned that to be successful you have to show up!

The thing I like most about what I do: Hard to isolate one thing, love the people I work with, for and around and every day is different.

I am: positive

I never: quit

Guilty pleasure: Barolo

Favorite book: “My Losing Season” by Pat Conroy

Favorite TV show: anything on the Cooking Channel

In the car I listen to: the classics: Buffett, CSNY, Van Morrison, Bruce, Elton, Steely Dan, Beatles, Sugerland, Wings, Train, you know the classics!

Favorite quote: “Attitude is everything.”

These animals share my world: Major, the best dog ever.

My day begins: early and goes late.

I wish I had more time to: cook.

When I’m not cheering for the Cards, I’m cheering for: There is no one else.

Most Friday nights you’ll find me: if not working, cooking for friends.

If my life were a movie: it would be a comedy. It would be nice if it were a romantic comedy, but I am not sure I could be that lucky.
