The University of Louisville’s commitment to the health and well-being of students, staff and neighborhood residents will be on display again this year at two farmers markets.
The Belknap Farmers Market returns for a third year April 4 at a new location on the Belknap Campus, while the Gray Street Farmers Market on the Health Sciences Center campus begins its 10th season May 17.
“Eating locally grown food is one of the quickest ways to a healthier body, planet and economy,” said Justin Mog, UofL assistant to the provost for sustainability initiatives.
The Belknap Farmers Market took a hiatus in 2017 but will be back in a new format this year.
The Spring Market will include vendors and will be open every Wednesday from April 4-25, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., at the Red Barn or in the Student Activities Center Multipurpose Room. During that time, farmers will take orders for weekly delivery during the summer months. The Fall Market will be open Aug. 15-Oct. 24, also on Wednesdays, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Come and sign up for door prizes: a football signed by Coach Bobby Petrino, a FitBit, a basket of UofL items, and one item each from the vendors.

The GSFM will be open Thursdays from May 17-Oct. 25, 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., at its usual location along the 400 block of East Gray Street. A new funding initiative is on tap for the market to expand its capacity to serve local residents; details will be available in early May.
