After the student pulled the weapon from her purse, faculty immediately took the gun and restrained her until University Police arrived on the scene.

University Police received the call at 1:46 p.m. and were on the scene two minutes later. The student was in custody at 1:53 p.m. The Belknap Campus community was notified by e-mail.

Officials said the UofL Alert system was not activated because the student immediately was disarmed and posed no threat to the campus community.
