Get Healthy Now, UofL’s employee health management program since 2005, received the group’s first Veteran Worksite Wellness Award at the MHHM-sponsored Worksite Wellness Conference.

When the program began, UofL’s health care costs outpaced the national average, said Patricia Benson, GHN director.

That trend has reversed, she said, and in 2007, Get Healthy Now began demonstrating a positive return on investment.

The University of Louisville has invested in the good health of the campus community, and many employees have improved their overall well-being as a result of their participation in the program, she said.

GHN is open to UofL employees, spouses, qualifying adults and retirees, and uses several methods to help members identify health risks and improve them. It also partners with others, such as the Sustainability Council, Sodexo and Campus Health Services, to support a wellness culture at the university.

UofL offers GHN membership as a benefit of employment. Participants who also participate in the university’s health insurance plan receive a refund on their monthly premiums.
