“Oz the Great and Powerful” will be shown on the west lawn near the Red Barn on Belknap Campus (this is a location change from that previously announced).

The event will begin at 6:30 p.m. with inflatable rides, children’s activities, local mascot appearances and music. The movie will start at dusk.

Patrons are encouraged to bring lawn chairs, blankets, coolers and picnic baskets. UofL’s dining services provider, Sodexo, will sell hamburgers, hot dogs, soft drinks and other food on site.

“Oz the Great and Powerful” is the story of Oscar Diggs, a small-time magician who is swept away to an enchanted land and forced into a power struggle between three witches. Putting his magic to use through illusion, ingenuity—and even a bit of wizardry—Oscar transforms himself not only into the great and powerful Wizard of Oz, but into a better man. The movie, rated PG, stars James Franco, Mila Kunis, Michelle Williams and Rachel Weisz.
