Alumni — or anyone with a curiosity about UofL’s past — can see the university through students’ eyes via full-text searchable digital versions of extant UofL yearbooks. The years 1909 to 1960 are available so far. Digital Collections is scanning yearbooks in chronological order, working its way to the last yearbook of 1982.
Other Digital Collections also focus on UofL’s past and present.
University of Louisville Images contains images relating to the university and its history, including the Building Book, an online encyclopedia of current and historical campus structures. Campus personalities and activities in the late 1940s and 1950s are particularly well represented, thanks to a recently acquired collection of photographs by professional photographer and UofL fan Norris E. Mode.
University of Louisville Electronic Theses and Dissertations features a selection of theses and dissertations written by graduate students from 1909 to the present. They are online courtesy of their authors who have retained their copyrights.
Dwight Anderson Music Library Collection consists of a Guest Book with signatures from visitors to the School of Music, including guest artists, composers, lecturers and dignitaries.
August 2009 Flood Collection highlights community-contributed images and videos of the Aug. 4, 2009 flash flood, including the devastation to UofL’s Belknap and Health Sciences Center campuses.
Kornhauser Health Sciences Library History Collections provides access to formal class photographs; photos of students, buildings, classrooms, and laboratories; and early medical school catalogs from the Louisville General Hospital School of Nursing, UofL School of Dentistry and UofL School of Medicine.
