These are some of the traits University of Louisville students attribute to their favorite faculty, 11 of whom were honored as 2009 Faculty Favorites in February at the 2010 Celebration of Teaching and Learning.
The Delphi Center for Teaching and Learning has honored who have received the most nominations at its annual celebration since 2005.
The honor comes through the screening of the faculty favorites video, a montage of interviews with the recipients about their teaching approaches and excerpts from students’ nominations, said Laurie Naiser, manager of marketing services.
The Delphi Center recently has posted this year’s video on its website, along with a list of all 295 faculty nominees.
Since the awards’ inceptions, there has been a total of more than 1,800 faculty nominees; 57 faculty members have been featured in videos over the years.
This year’s top 11 nomination honorees are:
- Debra Bauder, special education, College of Education and Human Development
- Naira Campbell-Kyureghyan, industrial engineering, J.B. Speed School of Engineering
- Veronica Hinton-Hudson, computer information systems, College of Business
- Sara Kowalczyk, School of Nursing
- Patricia Martin, School of Nursing
- Heather Mitchell, School of Nursing
- Lee Ridner, School of Nursing
- Kaila Story, Pan-African studies and women’s and gender studies, College of Arts and Sciences
- Geetha Suresh, justice administration, College of Arts and Sciences
- Kandi Walker, communication, College of Arts and Sciences
- Michael Williams, humanities, College of Arts and Sciences
UofL President James Ramsey and Provost Shirley Willihnganz congratulated all nominees at a luncheon at the University Club two weeks after the 2010 Celebration for Teaching and Learning.
