Sessions and related events will take place on UofL’s Belknap Campus, at a nearby Hilton Garden Inn and on Shelby Campus at ShelbyHurst. Attendees can register for the entire conference or for selected components. Conference prices and details on all sessions are at Black Family Conference.

Some conference events are free and open to the public. They are:

  • A pre-conference workshop on getting ready for college for Jefferson County Public Schools high school students and their parents or guardians. Conference organizers developed the program in conjunction with JCPS representatives. March 9, 10 a.m.-3 p.m., Bigelow Hall, Miller Information Technology Center, Belknap Campus.   • A tribute to Joseph H. McMillan, a lifelong educator and community leader who chaired the conference for 34 years. March 10, 7 p.m., Bigelow Hall, Miller Information Technology Center, Belknap Campus
  • A youth summit for high school students featuring Ambassador Attallah Shabazz, eldest daughter of civil rights leader Malcolm X. Call 502-852-6656 to attend. March 12, 10 a.m.-1 p.m., Shelby Campus at ShelbyHurst.
  • A Family Expo exhibit featuring information on education, financial fitness, personal health and wellness and community and civic engagement. March 12, noon – 3 p.m., Hilton Garden Inn, 2735 Crittenden Dr.
