    Thursdays through Oct. 29, 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m., 400 block of E. Gray St.

    Some items available today will include: whole grain breads, tomato pies, granola, local honey, corn, tomatoes, squash, zucchini, beets, cabbage, onions, bitter melon, yard long green beans, shelli beans, cucumbers, watermelons, cantaloupe, okra, bell peppers, maple syrup, apples, cut flowers, lettuce, potatoes, peaches, apple chips, cookies, and homemade soaps and lotions. Also Sandi’s Styles, a fashion boutique on wheels, and Louisville Pure Tap will be on hand. Lunch trucks: Holy Mole (tacos) and Pollo (burgers, chicken).

    2.) Belknap: Jump rope and hula hoop with Get Healthy Now

    Thursdays through Oct. 15, 3:30 to 6 p.m., 3rd and Brandeis next to the Ville Grill.

    Some items available today will include: Lamb sausage, Asian pears, apples, peaches, corn, green beans, squash, zucchini, tomatoes, onions, purple hull peas, apple chips, apple butter, lamb, chicken, pork, eggs, homemade breads and baked goods, honey, popcorn and lemon shake-ups.     3.) October events in Old Louisville

    ·       St. James Court Art Show October 2-4, 10 a.m.- 6 p.m. (Friday and Saturday) 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. (Sunday); 750 juried artists.

    ·       The Garvin Gate Blues Festival October 9-10 6:30 p.m.- 11 p.m. (Friday) 2:00 p.m. -11 p.m. (Saturday); Free music street festival on Oak Street between 4th and 6th streets near Garvin Place.  2015 is a Tribute to Chicago Blues and Muddy Waters.

    ·       The Victorian Tales of Terror is a new outdoor theater/tour in Old Louisville which runs October 15-18, 7 to 9 p.m. nightly with tours departing every 10 minutes from the Historic Old Louisville Neighborhood and Visitors Center in Central Park.     4.) Get Healthy Now Wellness Center closed for Labor Day holiday

    Sept. 7, Get Healthy Now Wellness Center at Humana Gym

    The Get Healthy Now Wellness Center will be closed Monday in observance of Labor Day. Normal hours of operation will resume Tuesday, September 8, (6a – 9p). Have a safe and happy Labor Day!

    5.) Save the Dates: Flu shots available this month

    UofL will administer free flu shots to faculty, staff and students on the following dates in September. Mark your calendars!

    6.) Syncplicity, cloud data storage service, available for employees

    As an alternative to Dropbox, all University employees can now apply for a Syncplicity account. Syncplicity is a UofL managed cloud storage service where data is stored within University housed datacenters in encrypted form. Clients are available for Windows, Macintosh, iOS, and Android. A Syncplicity account costs $65.00 per licensed user per year for 100 GB of cloud storage. Ask your departmental or unit Tier1 technology personnel for more information.     7.) Counseling Center is moving to Cardinal Station

    Sept. 4, Cardinal Station, Suite 201

    The Counseling Center is moving to Cardinal Station on Friday. No regular appointments will be scheduled on Friday, but staff will be available for crises and emergencies. Beginning Tuesday, September 8, clients will be seen at Cardinal Station. The new address is 215 Central Ave., Suite 201 (2nd floor). The Center’s phone number will not change.

    8.) Announcing KY Lung Cancer Research Program Cycle 15 Funding

    The KLCRP provides two-year, externally peer-reviewed, $75,000/year grants to UofL faculty for basic, translational or clinical research on lung cancer. Priority will be given to applications focusing on innovative research. A letter of intent is requested by September 25, with full applications due to the address below by October 16.     10.) Free Training: Commercializing Innovations in the Healthcare Market – for UofL faculty, staff, trainees and students

    Do you have product ideas that could improve patient care or enhance human health? Are you interested in applying for a grant from UofL’s ExCITE Hub, Coulter Translational Partnership, or I-Corps Programs? The Trifecta Training Program for Life Science Technologies is a series of five training sessions beginning 9/15; 4-6pm in the CTRB, Room 123. These courses are open to the UofL campus community. Experienced speakers will present topics related to health-based innovations/commercialization.

    Have you ever wanted to know more about the LGBT community? Join us for our Safe Zone 1 Ally training offered by the LGBT Center! During this 1.5-hour training, you will get the opportunity to hear from a panel of LGBT students about their personal lived experiences, learn about issues that impact LGBT people in our community, and self-reflect on what actions you can take as an ally to help improve the lives of LGBT people.

    15.) LALS Presents: Better Living through Critical Thinking at Hotel Louisville’s Homeless Shelter, a presentation by Dr. Edna Ross

    Sept. 9, noon to 1 p.m., Shumaker Research Building, Room 139

    Drs. Edna Ross and Nina Moseley, chief operating officer of Hotel Louisville, will discuss collaborations between UofL and Hotel Louisville and ways in which students, faculty, and staff may volunteer. The Latin American and Latino Studies Program will erect a Day of the Dead altar in the lobby of Hotel Louisville and plan other volunteer activities. Pizza will be served.

    Sept. 4, 7:30 to 8:30 a.m., Jewish Hospital Bottigheimer Auditorium

    Umair Gaunhar, MD, assistant professor of medicine, UofL division of pulmonary critical care and sleep disorders, will present Diagnostic Approach to Solitary Pulmonary Nodules. Dr. Gaunhar will explain the epidemiology of solitary pulmonary nodules and help to understand the risk stratification of solitary pulmonary nodules. He will help the audience understand different diagnostic modalities of solitary pulmonary nodules. CME category I is available for both AAFP & ACCME accreditation.
