4.) Information sessions on the FLSA changes and what UofL is doing to comply

The Fair Labor Standards Act goes into effect on Dec. 1 and includes a new minimum salary threshold for employees who will be exempt from overtime pay eligibility. The new minimum salary threshold for exempt positions has increased to $47,476. Many positions at UofL will become eligible for overtime. Information sessions to discuss these FLSA changes and what the university is doing to comply will be held this week on both the Belknap and HSC campuses.

The annual online benefits Open Enrollment begins Monday October 17 at 8 a.m., and closes Friday, October 28 at 5 p.m. This is your once-a-year opportunity to make changes to your current benefits. More details will be released soon via UofL Today and a postcard sent to your home.

7.) Book-in-Common author visits UofL

“Hidden America” author Jeanne Marie Laskas will visit UofL on Tuesday. Included are a free writing workshop (4-5:15 p.m., Floyd Theater) and keynote lecture with book signing (7 p.m., SAC Multi-purpose Room). The writing workshop will help students get started on the Composition Contest, which awards prizes for first year and upperclass student winners in written and digital categories.
