DID YOU KNOW UofL’s New Music Festival is an annual event devoted to the promotion of the diverse music of our times. The festival began more than 10 years ago and demonstrates the University of Louisville School of Music’s commitment to the study, performance and celebration of contemporary music. Works of the late 20th and 21st century are featured in free, open to the public concerts presented by various ensemble combinations. The festival continues all week and the schedule is available online.
FACULTY AND STAFF NOTABLES UofL was well represented at the recent American Association for the Study of Liver Diseases annual meeting in Washington, DC (Liver Week, 2017). Several UofL faculty chaired sessions. Drs. Leila Gobejishvili and Irina Kirpich were awarded “Presidential Posters of Distinction.” Dr. Gavin Arteel presented “Mechanisms of Alcohol-Induced Liver Injury and Targets for Therapy,” and Dr. Craig McClain presented “Microbiome and Nutrition Interactions in Alcoholic Liver Disease.”
