    DID YOU KNOW?

UofL’s Belknap Campus is home to a Robert E. Lee Chestnut Oak, a descendant of a tree from the Virginia plantation where the Civil War general was born in 1807. It’s just one of the more than 1,100 trees on Belknap’s 309 acres. Anyone can take a 1.5-hour, 1.75-mile self-guided tour using our interactive map, where you will also find a link to our downloadable brochure. Brochures are also available at both Information Centers. All trees along the tour are marked by identification plaques.

    Safety

1.) Free personal safety alarms still available for faculty, staff

A few personal safety alarms are still available for faculty and staff. University Provost Shirley Willihnganz purchased the alarms to offer a little more security for faculty and staff who would like extra protection while walking at night. They are similar to a key fob and can be held or worn around the neck on a lanyard. By pulling a pin, the wearer activates a piercing alarm to discourage would-be attackers. Alarms can be picked up at the Office of Communications and Marketing on the Belknap Campus from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., weekdays, or call to make other arrangements.

    Additional Information: 852-6171.
