The mission of the Clinical Research Support Program (CRSP) is to promote and facilitate the conduct of clinical research within the Department of Medicine and the UofL Community. The CRSP was created to provide centralized support services for our faculty as well as serving as a centralized resource to provide training and quality functions that ensure high quality research and results.

8.) Qualitative Research Speakers Series set for inaugural season
May 23, 5-7 p.m., 139 Shumaker; Free
Join us for pizza at this inaugural session where we will explore qualitative research methods in general with a special focus on ethnography as a mode of inquiry, and on how knowledge is generated and legitimized across the disciplines of anthropology, urban studies and education. Dr. Lisa Björkman (Urban and Public Affairs) will discuss her work in India and Italy, offering insights into methods and methodologies in the social sciences.

9.) Study of emotion socialization conducted by UofL RACER Lab

Paul Rosen, PhD, and the UofL RACER Lab is conducting a study examining family dynamics and emotional skills of children with and without ADD/ADHD. Mothers and children in kindergarten through 2nd grade are eligible to participate. Estimated duration of participation is one 2-hour session. Mothers will receive a $5 prepaid card for their participation and children will receive a small toy. Parents will also be provided with a free ADHD and academic achievement screening assessment.

10.) Green Tip: Bike Local & Buy Local This Week
May is Bike Everywhere Month and this Friday, May 20, is Bike To Work Day. Register your intention to get to work on two wheels and you could win a free bicycle at Louisville’s Bike to Work Day Celebration at 4th St. Live from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. UofL is also participating in the National Bike Challenge, and participants have a chance to win $400. Also this week, pedal to UofL’s weekly Farmers Markets, which open for the season on Thursday at HSC (Gray St. 10:30 a.m.-2 p.m.) and Belknap (3rd & Brandeis, 3:30-6 p.m.).

Ginzburg, MD, Assistant Professor of Clinical Medicine at Albert Einstein College of Medicine, and Associate Member, Kimball Research Institute, New York Blood Center. Dr. Ginzburg will present “Regulatory Role of Iron Transport in Beta-Thalassemia,” focusing on normal regulation of iron metabolism and erythropoiesis, characteristics and dysregulated iron metabolism in beta-thalassemia, and the role of transferrin and TfR1 in erythroid maturation and enucleation.
