DID YOU KNOW
The University of Louisville School of Dentistry is ranked 13th in the nation in the National Institute of Dental and Craniofacial Research funding for 2016 – a jump from 17th in the previous year. The school received $4,037,024 during FY16.
FACULTY AND STAFF NOTABLES
Brad Shuck, associate professor of Organizational Leadership and Learning in the CEHD, was recently named the 2016 Early Career Scholar by the Academy of Human Resource Development. He was also a 2016 finalist for UCWHRE’s Assistant Professor of the Year, and has received several awards for his research, including the AHRD Excellence in Scholarly practice, the Child-Life Council Research-to-Practice Award, and the E F Holton III Outstanding Article of the Year. His primary areas of research include the application, meaning, and measurement of employee engagement, emerging areas of positive psychology, and leader development.

Statewide Tornado Drill scheduled Friday

March is Severe Weather Awareness Month and UofL traditionally tests its Alert system during the Statewide Tornado Drill. The drill will occur at 10:07 a.m. on Friday, March 3. Even though the alert system is activated, no further action is required. Go online for more information about how to protect yourself during severe weather. Panopto will replace Tegrity as the university’s lecture capture tool after the spring semester. You can start using Panopto today, as it is currently available for all users with a Ulink account. This new system features tools for embedding video in Blackboard, live streaming, mobile capture, quizzes, and more. Get started with a virtual training on March 3, 10-11 a.m. or in-person training on March 6, 3-4 p.m.

To mark National Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month in March, Friday, March 3, is Blue of L Day. Dress in blue to show support for colon cancer awareness. Also, if you are 50 years old or older, get screened for colon cancer at the U Club during the hours listed above. There will also be free fit kits to take home (including a take-home stool test), and other giveaways. UofL departments should show off their blue outfits to compete in the Facebook photo contest.
