    Today’s farmers markets: Try fresh-baked breads and tomato pie!

    1.) Gray Street

    Thursdays through Oct. 30, 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m., 400 block of E. Gray Street, rain or shine

    Some items available today will include: watermelon, cantaloupe, peaches, blueberries, golden beets, corn, green beans, squash, zucchini, cabbage, potatoes, cucumbers, onions and bell peppers. Also old-world style Italian cheeses, tomato pie, chocolate chip cookies, caramel granola cookies, peach jam, jalapeno jam, veggie pancakes, miso noodles, salty caramel apple turnovers. Lunch options will be Lil’ Cheezers (debuting at Gray Street and featuring gourmet grilled cheese) and Red Top Gourmet Hot Dogs (featuring Fox Hollow Farm grass fed hot dogs).

    Thursdays through Oct. 16, 3:30 to 6 p.m., 3rd and Brandeis, rain or shine

    Some items available today include: cantaloupe, peaches, blueberries, golden beets, corn, green beans, squash, zucchini, potatoes, peppers, onions and pasture-raised poultry (frozen), lamb (frozen) and eggs.     3.) Firewall upgrade will take place during preventative maintenance

    Aug. 8, 10 p.m. to Aug. 9, 2 a.m.

    University firewall devices will be upgraded to the latest software version during the regular Preventative Maintenance (PM) period. This will cause Internet and network connectivity outages throughout the PM window. Please note that other systems (e.g. Blackboard, email, instant messaging, PeopleSoft, ULink, data services, etc.) may be also taken offline during this time without notice.

    Please join the Delphi Center and Glen Garrett from iClicker for a session about iClicker/iClickerGo. iClicker is a tool that allows students to submit answers for in-class polling, and iClickerGo adds the convenience of using a smart phone or laptop as a substitute clicker. Breakfast provided at Belknap session, box lunch at HSC session.

    Twenty-seven students in the NCI-funded Cancer Education Program from UofL, University of Chicago, UK, Wheaton, Centre, Indiana, Saint Louis, Drexel, WKU, Notre Dame and MIT will present their research posters. Posters are available for viewing at this link.

    Julio Ramirez, MD, UofL professor of medicine and chief of the division of infectious disease presents Community Acquired Pneumonia. He will summarize current research projects in pneumonia at the division; review pathogenesis of pneumonia and the importance of pathogen virulence and host response; describe current recommendations for antimicrobial therapy; review data on pneumonia vaccination; describe clinical outcomes in patients with pneumonia.
