    1.) Fire up your core muscles with Ab Lab

    Tuesdays & Thursdays 12:00 – 12:15 p.m., Get Healthy Now Wellness Center at Humana Gym

    Free for GHN Wellness Center members

    Summertime has arrived and it’s time to get those abs tight, toned and stronger with Ab Lab. It’s the total core workout. In this class you will focus on basic abdominal work and lower back exercises. Equipment options that may be used include: the bosu balance trainer, stability balls and weights. This class will help develop a toned physique and improve total body strength, while developing your core muscles.

    2.) IT Password Policy change coming

    Do you realize most people use names, personal info or easy keyboard combinations for passwords? Do you use “cards” or “louisville in your university password? Hackers feast on easily discovered info to gain access to secure data. Information Technology is taking improved measures this fall to prevent password theft with new guidelines for changing a password. Beginning October 9, a new policy will go into effect for creating stronger passwords that work across all university systems.

    3.) There’s an app for that!

    Check out Kornhauser Library’s Medical Mobile Apps page. This resource is great for finding medical mobile apps to use on the go. The site offers a complete listing of all apps provided through Kornhauser Library. It also has information for app installations, support for your mobile device, and a direct link to reserve an Apple iPad for checkout at Kornhauser.

     

    4.) Sigma Xi presents professor Lee Dugatkin at the Frazier Museum

    July 26, 2 to 3 p.m., Frazier History Museum, 829 W. Main St.

    Free with Frazier admission, free for Sigma Xi members

    “Mr. Jefferson and the Giant Moose: Natural History Early in America” involves Thomas Jefferson, Count and naturalist George-Louis Leclerc Buffon, and a large, dead moose. Jefferson obsessed over this moose to help quash French arrogance that claimed that life in America was degenerate, weak and feeble. Jefferson showed that the fledgling America republic was equal to well-established Europe. Natural history took on political overtones. Supported by Sigma Xi, The Scientific Research Society.

    Psychology Honor Society is sponsoring a GRE Strategy Session/lunch/ practice exam Saturday, August 29 from 9:30-3:45 in W104 Ekstrom Library, Belknap, all for $20! Anyone interested in attending graduate school (students, faculty, friends, family) is welcome to attend. Laptops will be available. Forward $20 cash/check to Psi Chi, 317 Life Sciences, Belknap no later than August 25. Include with your payment: “GRE”, your name, email, and sandwich selection: ham, turkey, roast beef, or veggie.
