    DID YOU KNOW?

     

    A student-run radio station, WLCV, broadcast from Belknap Campus from the ‘70s until 2012. A 2002 column in The Cardinal, UofL’s student newspaper, said the station hired new student volunteers every semester, and had just two requirements: Candidates had to be UofL students and couldn’t be “too creepy.”

    2.) Give blood Thursday at the Speed School Blood Drive

    Jan. 29, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., Vogt Building, Room 314

    Please make plans to donate blood at Speed School’s Spring 2015 blood drive. Donating blood is a simple thing to do, but it can make a big difference in the lives of others.

    3.) Last chance! Applications due for Delphi U Online 2015

    A few slots remain for Delphi U Online 2015. Applications are due Feb. 4. The spring offering will launch Feb. 9 and conclude April 12. Work with colleagues to identify and implement best practices for online instruction, and leave Delphi U Online with a head start on creating or redesigning an online course.

    4.) Human Trafficking Awareness Conference to hold fundraising night

    Jan. 29, 4 to 10 p.m., Impellizzeri’s Pizza, 1381 Bardstown Rd.

    Women 4 Women is holding the 5th annual Human Trafficking Awareness Conference soon and needs your help to raise funds. Come out to Impellizzeri’s on Thursday for good food and company and to support an amazing cause. Ten percent of all proceeds between 4 and 10 p.m. will go to the conference.

    The Department of Physiology and Biophysics Seminar Series presents, “Novel view on adult stem cells compartment—of germ line, VSELs and parental imprinting,” by Mariusz Ratajczak, MD, PhD, professor, UofL School of Medicine.

    Our speaker will be Dr. Lindsay Bonsignore from the laboratory of Dr. Christine Schaner Tooley. The title of her talk is New Roles for N-Terminal Methylation in Breast Cancer Progression and Aging. Lunch will be provided by The Office of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies.
