The Jan. 14 presentation by Brookings Institution senior fellow Diana Villers Negroponte has been canceled. Negroponte was scheduled to discuss her latest book, “The End of Nostalgia: Mexico Confronts the Challenges of Global Competition.”

6.) PeopleSoft now allows faculty/staff access to student photos.
Faculty: Navigate to class roster via ULink or PeopleSoft self-service. There is a column to the left of the student’s name and ID for “Photo.” Click icon to see photo. There is an option to see all student photos by selecting “Include photos in list” directly above the roster.
Staff: This functionality exists in PeopleSoft as part of the bio-demographical data. Navigate to Campus Community>Personal Information (Student)>Identification (Student)>Photo.
Note: Like other student information, photos are confidential and should not be shared. Student privacy information.

8.) Funding opportunity for diabetes and obesity research
New funding opportunity for diabetes and obesity research is available through a partnership between UofL and Novo Nordisk. The program requests a two-page summary of research, and if selected, a presentation at a two-day science forum. Awards for early exploration ($250,000) and proof of principle ($500,000) are possible. The Office of Technology Transfer, EVPRI offers support reviewing disclosed information; pre-proposals must be submitted to Novo Nordisk no later than Feb. 7.

Registration is now open for the 2014 ACES Black and Latino Student Symposium on Feb. 14. The symposium provides a forum to discuss issues and programs relating to the access to and success in college among Black and Latino students.
