The new Louisville Children’s Film Festival runs Feb. 24-26 throughout the city and UofL’s Gheens Science Hall & Rauch Planetarium is one of the venues. “Longing and Belonging,” a collection of live-action shorts that shows how all children long for the same things, is being shown there at 2 p.m. Feb. 25. Tickets are $7.50 in advance, $10 at the door, $5 for students.

Budget forum on Belknap Campus today
Feb. 22, noon, Floyd Theater
President Greg Postel will host a budget forum open to the entire campus on Thursday in the Floyd Theater. A budget forum will also be held on the HSC campus auditorium on Monday, Feb. 26 at 11:30 a.m. The forum will be livestreamed here.
Women’s Basketball hosts UVA Thursday for Kay Yow ‘pink out’ game
Thursday, 7 p.m., KFC Yum! Center
UofL Women’s Basketbal hosts the University of Virginia Thursday night. The #PlayforKay game will be a pink out to raise money for breast cancer awareness. Coach Jeff Walz will donate $1 for every fan over 10,000, with all proceeds going toward the Kay Yow Fund.

Louisville Water Company has rescheduled the new water main tie in in front of Ernst Hall
The water main work originally scheduled for this weekend, Feb. 24-25, in front of Ernst Hall, has been rescheduled due to the weather forecast. The work will be rescheduled during spring break, the week of March 12.Updated information will be provided soon.
Registration closes Feb. 23 for the GSRRC
Register now to attend the Graduate Student Regional Research Conference (GSRRC) at UofL happening March 2-3. Pierce retirement reception rescheduled
The Feb. 23 retirement reception for Bill Pierce, executive vice president for research and innovation, has been postponed. A new date will be set as soon as possible.
UofL National Society of Black Engineers hosting fundraiser for national conference
NSBE has a goal to increase the number of culturally responsible black engineers who excel academically, succeed professionally and positively impact the community. Members are planning to attend the NSBE National Conference in Pittsburgh. With workshops dedicated to academic, personal, and innovative development, to leadership training, members will benefit from this opportunity. The chapter is hosting a fundraiser to help offset some of the costs for the trip. More information is available online.

Guest speaker John Chenault is an Associate Professor and Medical Librarian in the Kornhauser Health Sciences Library. He has provided EndNote workshops for hundreds at UofL, and also teaches in the Pan African Studies Department. In his spare time, he is a writer, poet, composer and playwright. His talk will explore human evolution in Africa, the development of language, technology, science, and religion in prehistoric Africa, and the population of the world from the African continent. This is a brown bag lunch event.

Biology Dept. Seminar Series presents Dr. Kyle Forinash, Indiana University Southeast

“Ending the Fossil Fuel Addiction: What Will It Take?” Dr. Kyle Forinash, Professor (ret.) of Physics at Indiana University Southeast, has published technical papers on non-linear dynamics, in addition to pedagogical papers about the use of computers and cell phones for data collection in student laboratories. His current interests include applications of physics to environmental issues and open source computer simulations for physics education. His latest book, Physics and the Environment, extensively discusses renewable forms of energy, their physical constraints and how we must use science and engineering as tools to solve problems instead of opinion and politics.
