Information Technology
1.) Personal computer repair service closes permanently April 30
This change only impacts repair for personally purchased computer hardware. Servicing of university-owned equipment is not affected by this change. Repairs in progress will be completed, but no additional equipment will be accepted for repair after this date. Help with malware removal, passwords and other software-related issues will remain available from the iTech Connect office located on the lower level of Miller Information Technology Center.

2.) Fulbright ambassador to speak March 3

Dr. Dom Caristi, a two-time Fulbright scholar and a current Fulbright ambassador from Ball State University, will be on campus March 3 to share his experiences working with the Fulbright program and the many opportunities being a Fulbright Scholar provides. Caristi will speak on the HSC campus from 8 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. at the CTR and from noon to 1:30 p.m. at the University Club. RSVP to connie.kidd@louisville.edu.

Thomas M. Morgan, MD, Division of Medical Genetics and Genomic Medicine, assistant professor of pediatrics, Vanderbilt University, will present “Will the 21st Century Be the Era of Eugenics?” Attendees will become familiar with the history of eugenics, learn how eugenics is currently being practiced, and understand how eugenics has moved from a theoretical debate to an imperative policy question. Janet Malek, PhD, associate professor, Department of Bioethics and Interdisciplinary Studies, East Carolina University presents “A Double-Edged Sword: The Role of the Medical Learner in Patient Care.” This talk will explore the complications and contributions that medical learners bring to patient care. CME category 1 is available for both AAFP and ACCME accreditation, and a continental breakfast will be provided.

This Friday, please join us for Pediatric Grand Rounds featuring Claudia Espinosa, MD. Espinosa is currently an assistant professor of pediatrics at the UofL School of Medicine in the Division of Pediatric Infectious Diseases. She will present about parapneumonic effusion and empyema in children.

9.) ObGyn professor to discuss ‘What’s Up…With the Pump?’

Jeffrey King, MD, professor and director of maternal fetal medicine, Department of Obstetrics, Gynecology and Women’s Health, UofL School of Medicine, will present his lecture “What’s Up…With the Pump?” King will discuss how to appreciate the cardiac anatomy and physiology changes in pregnancy, revised ACOG guidelines in hypertension in pregnancy, the appropriate choices in hypertension drugs, and postpartum changes and how they impact blood pressure.
