1.) Nominations sought for 2015 Outstanding Performance/Supervisor of the Year
The Office of the President is accepting nominations for the 2015 Outstanding Performance and Supervisor of the Year awards through Friday, March 5. The Outstanding Performance Awards recognize classified and professional/ administrative staff for their outstanding performance and commitment to service. The Supervisor of the Year Award recognizes staff and faculty supervisors who provide leadership in creating work environments that facilitate work/life balance, professional development and performance management. Recipients will receive plaques, a $1,000 cash award and a letter of appreciation for their personnel files. President James Ramsey will also host a luncheon in their honor. 2.) Nominations requested for Unsung SHERO Award
Nominations will be accepted through March 20 for the 2015 Unsung SHERO Award presented by the UofL Transformation Tea Committee. For award criteria, nomination form and more details, email Kathryn Doaty or Georgette Moore. The award recipient will be recognized at the April 1 Transformation Tea event.

3.) Cap and gown ordering for May 2015 Commencement
The ordering website is open for faculty and students to place an order for academic apparel for the May 10, 2015 Commencement ceremony. The deadline to order apparel is March 31 at midnight. Graduation participants should visit the website for information on the ceremony and to place a cap and gown order.

Save the date and meet Kentucky Women writers, readers and others at the 9th annual Kentucky Women’s Book Festival at UofL. Read more.

6.) Dress in Blue for Colon Cancer Awareness

March is Colon Cancer Awareness Month and National Dress in Blue Day is just three weeks away. UofL’s Kentucky Cancer Program is sponsoring a Facebook Photo Contest for BLUE photos. Start thinking about a fun, blue photo you or your department could submit! All photos must be submitted by March 31. We also have a Colon Cancer Resource Toolkit available online with promotional materials and templates! For more information on how you can participate, contact the Kentucky Cancer Program.

7.) UofL-chartered bus available for medical student’s funeral in Gary, Indiana, on Friday
Feb. 13, 6:15 a.m., in front of the School of Medicine, 500 S. Preston St.

The School of Medicine has chartered a bus for students, faculty and staff who want to attend the funeral of fourth-year medical student Ashley Hinchen. Ashley died Sunday, Feb. 8, in a car accident. The funeral is at the First A.M.E. Church, 2045 E. Massachusetts St., Gary, Ind., 46407. The funeral begins at 11 a.m. (CDT) Friday. The bus will be in front of the courtyard for boarding at 6:15 a.m. If you plan to attend, email Mary Jo White.

8.) Retirement planning workshop scheduled for HSC

Register now to attend a two-hour retirement workshop sponsored by the School of Accountancy and presented by faculty member and certified financial planner Sheila Johnston. Topics include discussion of UofL options, amounts needed for retirement, basic retirement issues and much more.

9.) Submit your 2015 Student Orientation Guide ad
We are now accepting ad orders for the 2015 Student Orientation Guide. The orientation guide is a publication that is given to all new students, freshman and transfer, who attend orientation sessions. It is a great opportunity for your office or program to contact incoming students as it is used throughout each orientation session. This year we will be creating separate guides for freshman and transfer students. Email orient@louisville.edu to request an order form with pricing and deadlines.
