    DID YOU KNOW?

The Louisville Medical Institute, precursor to today’s UofL School of Medicine, opened in temporary quarters in fall 1837 and a year later moved into a new building designed by renowned architect Gideon Shryock. The beautiful and well-furnished building housed chemical and medical lecture halls, an anatomical laboratory and an anatomical and pathological museum, along with an excellent library collection, much of which remains today.  (Courtesy: History Collections, Kornhauser Health Sciences Library)
