    2. A&S Inclusion and Equity Internship Program – Call for Applications

    The College of Arts and Science Dean’s Office for International, Diversity and Outreach Programs is currently recruiting interns. The Inclusion and Equity Internship program is designed to expose a team of students to the scholarship and best practices concerning greater inclusiveness and equity, with the purpose of cultivating social justice leadership skills among college students. Minimum 3.0 GPA and willingness to serve two consecutive years required. Application deadline: March 7, 2014.

    3. Coming Soon: Use ULink User ID, password with Ekstrom and Dwight Anderson Music ILL

    Starting on Jan. 6, 2014, users who wish to use interlibrary loan (ILL) at Ekstrom and Dwight Anderson Music Libraries can log in using their ULink User ID and password. For more information, visit the ILLiad LDAP FAQ page. More information can be found after you log in to your ILL account on the right hand side of the screen. There will be no changes for Kornhauser Health Sciences Library ILL users.

    4. Planetarium Holiday Membership Special offered through Dec. 19

    A planetarium membership gives you and your loved ones a year-long boarding pass on our virtual spaceship. Audiences are captivated as we transport them through the universe in our full-dome theater.     5. Lab Safety and Hazardous Waste Training/Radiation Safety Orientation

    9 a.m. – noon Dec. 12, Auditorium, Donald Baxter Building, HSC

    Recently hired lab employees who work with chemicals should attend the Lab Safety/Hazardous Waste session, 9 a.m. to 11:15 a.m. Recurrent training for lab employees is required every three years. Individuals who will work with or around radioactive materials should attend the Radiation Safety Orientation session, which is from 11:15 a.m. to noon. Bring employee/student ID number to sign in.

    IT’s Technically Speaking newsletter has been revamped. The new issue includes profiles on variable data printing services, scanning services and a section on holiday gifts. For more information, read the newsletter.

    7. Blackboard to be upgraded to Service Pack 13 during winter break

    Dec. 20-23

    Blackboard will be upgraded to Service Pack 13 over the winter break. Blackboard will be unavailable from 10 p.m. Friday, Dec. 20, to 5 p.m. Monday, Dec. 23. This version will introduce several new features, fixes and design improvements. These are summarized at http://uofl.me/bb-9-sp13.
