    The Duthie Center for Engineering building at the J.B. Speed School of Engineering was once called Kersey Library of Engineering, Physical Sciences and Technology for Laura Kersey, who had been a Speed School librarian for 32 years. The Kersey Library was closed in 2006 and its holdings were integrated with those of Ekstrom Library.

    1.) Title IX Mandatory Reporter Training offered next semester

    Are you aware that as a UofL employee, you are likely a mandatory Title IX reporter? Do you understand the responsibilities and requirements included in this role? There are two federal laws, Title IX & the Clery Act, that establish responsibilities for employees of universities to report certain types of crimes and incidents, especially sexual misconduct. To learn more about these laws, including the reporting requirements of “responsible employees,” register online now for various dates.

    2.) Farmers Market Holiday Bazaar is today

    Just a reminder that area animal shelters and rescues are in dire need of donations. In order to save animals, we need help from the community.     5.) Free Information Security training session

    This session is presented by the university’s Information Security Office and is free and open to all faculty and staff. Topics include: identifying and protecting “sensitive data” and Kentucky’s new privacy law (HB5) and how it impacts you. We will also cover tips to help you protect your work and personal data.     6.) Old Louisville neighborhood news: duPont Manual selling Christmas trees

    Monday-Friday, 3-7pm, Saturday 10am-8pm, ends December 12, duPont Manual Track and Softball Complex (where the buses park)

    $15-$100, depending on size and species

    If you are looking for a freshly cut, reasonably priced Christmas tree, the duPont Manual Track and Field Team is selling premium live Michigan Christmas trees. They are offering Scotch pines and Douglas/Frasier firs. Pick it up on the way home, or arrange for free delivery. Please support the team … many of the kids may be your students in the near future.

    7.) AlcoholEdu & Haven programs required for all incoming undergraduate students

    All first time freshmen, transfer and re-admit undergraduate students are required to complete AlcoholEdu (students up to age 21) and Haven (all students). These two web-based prevention programs are delivered through EverFi, and require that students create an account to register for the programs. Instructions are sent to students’ Cardmail accounts. Faculty and staff can help students avoid a registration hold by encouraging them to complete the programs as soon as possible.

    8.) School of Medicine Extramural Grant Reception is tonight

    School of Medicine faculty, research staff and students are invited to celebrate the School of Medicine extramural research grant award recipients during June-September 2015. The reception will be Thursday, Dec. 3 at 4:30 p.m. in the Abell Administration Center, 2nd Floor Foyer. This event is hosted by the School of Medicine Vice Dean for Research, Dr. Jon Klein.

    9.) Reminder: Volunteers needed for Winterfest 2016

    On Wed., Jan. 6 and Thurs., Jan. 7, volunteers are needed to staff the Welcome & Info Station and the New & Transfer Welcome Reception in Strickler Hall. 1.25 hour shifts are available from 9AM – 5PM. Volunteers will answer questions and offer campus resources, prizes, and free drinks and snacks from Sodexo and Pepsi. He will present “Physician Burnout: Toward Understanding Its Pathogenesis & Developing Effective Treatment & Prevention Approaches.
