    Health and Wellness

    1.) GHN Wellness Center closed for Christmas and New Year’s holidays

    The GHN Wellness Center will close early on Thursday, Dec. 24 (at 2 p.m.) and will be closed on Friday, Dec. 25. Please refer to the GHN Holiday Schedule for modified holiday hours of operation. The GHN Wellness Center will be closed on Thursday, Dec. 31 and Friday, Jan. 1 in observance of New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day. Normal hours of operation will resume on Saturday, Jan. 2. Don’t forget: UofL employees can enjoy access to the YMCA over the holiday break, too. View flyer.

    2.) Stay ahead of the holiday weight curve

    The holidays are right around the corner: Don’t let bad weather and holiday snacking throw you off track. Don’t let all the hard work you put in go to waste, stay ahead of the curve and keep the holiday weight down by attending Get Healthy Now fitness classes and picking up healthy recipes throughout the weeks to keep your fitness plan going.

    4.) UofL Today holiday publishing schedule

    The UofL Today email is published Monday through Friday. Due to the upcoming university holidays, UofL Today will not be sent out Dec. 23 to Jan. 1. The deadline for Jan. 4 announcements is 10 a.m., Dec. 22. Contact Janet Cappiello with questions.

     

    5.) Mail Services: holiday/winter break schedule

    If you have United States Postal Service (USPS), overnight/express deliveries, or critical, time-sensitive mail during the holiday schedule, please observe the holiday/winter break mail services schedule: http://louisville.edu/mail/news/holiday-schedule-for-2015-2016. Note that Wed., Dec. 23 will be the last regular mail service day until Mon., Jan. 4.

    6.) Women’s Center seeks calendar submissions for Women’s History Month

    Women’s History Month is celebrated in March and the UofL Women’s Center will publish a calendar of events. If you have an event or program concerning women’s issues for the month of March and would like to have it listed, submit your information at http://louisville.edu/womenscenter/programs-events/womens-history-month or complete the word document. The deadline is Friday, Jan. 29.

    8.) Green Tip: Santa will thank you for saving energy this holiday season

    Santa’s North Pole is melting, but you can help by taking a few simple steps to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. When you leave for the holidays: turn thermostats down to 55, close windows tight, and unplug chargers, printers and non-essential equipment. Get in the habit by switching everything off on a powerstrip. Always shut off computers and lights when vacating a room. Make a New Year’s resolution to carpool, bus or bike more and to trade that space heater for a sweater. Santa thanks you.
