    The Department of Neurosurgery is pleased to have Ronald T. Seel, PhD, present “Safety Risk Following Moderate and Severe TBI: Assessment and Development of the Safe@Home Transition Intervention.” Seel is the director of Brain Injury Research at the Shepherd Center in Atlanta. Continuing education credit is available, and continental breakfast will be served.

    3.) Faculty Workshop applications open: Green Threads – Sustainability across the Curriculum

    Interested in integrating themes of environmental, social and economic stewardship into your courses? The Sustainability Council invites full- and part-time faculty from all disciplines to participate in the 2014 Green Threads workshop on Earth Day, April 22. We’ll explore ways to embed sustainability into your curriculum. You’ll receive a $500 honorarium, resources for course development, info on local sustainability issues and a new network of faculty from across UofL. Applications are due March 19.

    4.) Last day to donate warm coats for homeless in downtown Louisville

    Deadline: Dec. 13

    Thank you for all the generous coat donations so far. Friday, Dec. 13, is the deadline for donations of warm winter coats for men, women and children. We especially need coats for men, but any donations would be greatly appreciated. It’s so cold outside so let’s do what we can to help the homeless and show UofL cares. Contact Elizabeth McDaniel at 852-8870 for Belknap Campus drop-off or Julie Douglas at 852-6776 for Health Sciences Center drop-off.

    5.) Call for session proposals for the 2014 ACES Black and Latino Symposium

    The A.C.E.S. Black and Latino Symposium planning committee invites submissions to guide 75 minute concurrent sessions at its symposium Feb. 14. The symposium forum will discuss initiatives and programs that enhance the experiences of Black and Latino college students around academic, cultural, engagement and social justice areas. This year’s theme is “Brown and Beyond: Past Victories, Current Struggles, and Future Prospects.” Submission deadline is Jan. 6. For more information and a full call for proposals, please contact W.     6.) Deadline approaches for School of Nursing Outstanding Alumni Awards

    Deadline: Dec. 16

    It’s not too late to submit an application for the School of Nursing Alumni Awards, given to 40 graduates from the BSN, MSN or PhD programs who have made significant contributions to their profession. Anyone can nominate an alumnus, and self-nomination is allowed. Nominees will be selected within Research and Scholarship, Clinical Practice and/or Education, Community Service and Engagement and Leadership to the Profession. Submit a nomination here.
